Art in the Loop Launches ‘Art Talk’ Podcast — Meet the Artists Behind the Public Art

Every year, the Art in the Loop Foundation invites its interns to come up with unique and creative ways to collaborate with the artists involved in the project in a way that allows the artists to share more about themselves and how Art in the Loop has shaped their visibility and creative practices. This year’s interns, Frances Story and Jack Warner, along with James Carter (Video Artist and Storyteller), partnered with YesWay Live to produce a new video podcast titled “Art Talk.” In this upcoming series, many of the visual and performing artists from this year’s project will sit down with Jack and Frances to talk about how Art in the Loop gave them a fresh platform for their art, how it feels to have their work displayed to a large public audience, and what their creative processes look like.

We built this place to be useful to artists, musicians, organizers, storytellers, and the people trying to make creative things happen in Kansas City without making it harder than it needs to be. Throughout the series, viewers will delve into the minds of:

The series will include both in-person and virtual interviews. Live interviews will be recorded at YesWay Live. Each episode will run 10 to 15 minutes and will be viewable on the Downtown Council of Kansas City’s YouTube channel. Expect the first episode in early August.
RSVP for the Art Walk
If you’re excited about the podcast, you can meet this year’s visual artists at our Art Walk on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:00 PM. Attendees will get the chance to learn more about the artists and the work installed at the streetcar stops, and cameras will be rolling for Art Talk, so you might even spot yourself in an episode.
This guided art tour starts at the KC Streetcar’s Berkeley Riverfront stop. Guests are encouraged to meet up or ride the streetcar to locations along the route, where each artist will discuss their artwork in person. The event is free and open to the public, but we ask that you RSVP at for planning purposes. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
