This year’s theme is “The Evolution of Downtown”.  The festivities start the evening before on Thursday, April 11th with the Urban Hero Awards Reception at the Grand Ballroom from 5pm to 7pm.  The Downtown Council will be recognizing the following for their passion and dedication in making Downtown Kansas City a more vibrant place to live, work and play:

The activities continue on Friday, April 12th starting at 11am with the Spirit of Downtown Exhibit.  You will want to arrive early to network and enjoy perusing the booths of different non-profits, developments, and organizations.  It’s a great way to learn about upcoming projects happening in Downtown KC.

The networking exhibition is followed by the luncheon which includes a jam-packed and exciting program.  Besides recognizing the Urban Hero Award winners from stage, we will also be presenting the Honorable Sly James with the J. Philip Kirk Jr. Civic Award, the Downtown  Council’s highest achievement for downtown stewardship.

After the awards, attendees will be treated to a keynote address from Jeff Speck.  Jeff is a nationally recognized city planner and author with a focus on making downtowns more walkable.  Following his remarks, he will be joined on stage for a moderated panel discussion with the Honorable Kay Barnes, Ian Ross, Principal at SomeraRoad, and Kelvin Simmons, Principal at Nexus Group, to discuss how the downtown revitalization started and what the future holds.

There are a variety of options to attend the luncheon from individual tickets to table packages.  This is an event you won’t want to miss.  Get your tickets today by clicking here.
