‘Stay at home’ order to take effect on Tuesday

Mayor Quinton Lucas on Saturday issued a “Stay at Home” Order, requiring Kansas Citians to stay at home except for “essential activities” as the community continues working to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, and healthcare facilities will remain open.

Community Improvement District (CID) Ambassadors will remain on duty in the Central Business District and River Market as they work to keep the community clean, safe and more attractive.

The Ambassadors are working in close partnership with the KC Police Department to vigilantly watch over Downtown.

To reach the CIDs, call the office at 816-421-5243 or the security mobile phone at 816-820-3475.

The stay-at-home order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday and continues to 11:59 p.m. on April 24.

Support small businesses

On this day prior to the start of a month-long stay-at-home order, the Downtown Council asks you to make plans for supporting our small businesses throughout this challenging time.

Here are 2 great ways to get started today:

1) Go CurbsideKC to arrange for curbside pickup (or carryout or delivery) from a favorite Downtown restaurant.

2) Online shopping or gift cards are always en vogue with Downtown merchants.
