Placemaking open house for Westside neighborhood set for Thursday

You are invited to participate in a placemaking event from 6-8 p.m. Thursday for the Westside neighborhood around West 17th Street and Jarboe. The meeting will be held at the Mattie Rhodes Cultural Center, 1701 Jarboe St.

Community participants will be asked to share their priorities for activities that bring youth, families, and adults together and
improve public health, education, and cultural appreciation. The overarching goal of this process is to revitalize and transform community and education spaces at Jarboe Park, Primitivo Garcia School, and Mattie Rhodes Centers.

Placemaking is a community-based participation process that focuses on a community’s assets, inspiration, and potential in the design of quality public spaces that contribute to people’s health, happiness, and well being.
