Live music, yoga, art market and food trucks, Thursday 6/12 in Oppenstein Park

Join us for “Summer in the City,” a free, public event located in Oppenstein Park in Downtown Kansas City. This Thursday, June 12, the pocket park at 12th & Walnut in Downtown KC will be activated with local performers, community activities, yard games, artist vendors, and food trucks.

12:00-1:00pm – Kirstie Lynn and Galen Clark, whose confluence of Kirstie Lynn’s magnetic voice and Galen Clark’s innovative harmonies comes a rich nostalgia longing for understanding. The intimate style of the duo’s performance envelops audiences in dreamlike tapestries spanning tales of melancholy, wanderlust, and memories of time and place.

2:30-4:00pm – Yoga led by Joshua Davis of Trap House Yoga whose classes are rooted in compassion and inclusivity, offering a space where everyone, regardless of experience, can feel supported and empowered.

3:30-6:30pm – Art Market with Local Art Vendors:

Anita Easterwood, a multi-disciplinary visual artist, born and raised in Kansas City, enjoys creating art that celebrates life, centered around fashion, history, culture, and sisterhood.
Kelsey Pike is a production papermaker based in Kansas City, Missouri. She learned papermaking and started her brand Sustainable Paper + Craft, specializing in papers specifically designed for artists and makers, made from recycled fabric and other sustainable fibers.
Nia Lovemore’s artwork often depicts fantasy characters of sapphic vampires, malevolent succubi, ethereal fairies, bikini warriors, and much more! She will have prints, stickers, comics, and zines available for purchase.
Steph Becker makes functional ceramics with hand-painted illustrations. Animals and humor are the main themes of her work.
Tara Tonsor, Lost & Found Design, is a mix of Midwestern vibes, nature enthusiast and curious wanderer. She enjoys working with glass, wood, metal and stone with a self-taught curiosity for sculpture, her practice includes taking apart jewelry, adding found objects and experimenting with materials.

6:00-7:00pm – The KC Bear Fighters, performers of Interdimensional B-movie Latin-infused spacegrass sing-alongs, presented in a wildly energetic live format.
