Get Ready for Another Summer in the City Performance

By Ben Fine, Intern for Art in the Loop

Traditional Music Society – Soundz of Samba will perform at Oppenstein Park in July as part of the “Summer in the City” activation series produced by the Downtown KC Community Improvement District!

Traditional Music Society – Soundz of Samba, July 10th, 12-1:30pm

The fifth performance, July 10th at 12:00pm features Traditional Music Society, Soundz of Samba with artists: Bird Ellington Fleming, Patrick Conway, Allaudin Ottinger, Gary Helm, Pablo LaRosa, Xavier Fleming. Take a musical excursion that will engulf you in the biggest parade in the entire world – Carnival of Rio de Janeiro! Bass drums, bells, shakers, snares, and whistles all recreate the national rhythm and dance of Brazil—Samba. Soundz of Samba truly depicts the color and pageantry of this four-day-long event in which marching bands come from all over Brazil to express their culture and the beginning of spring.

Summer in the City takes place twice a month with music, dance, poetry, food trucks, games and other activities at Oppenstein Park, a pocket park located at 12th and Walnut Streets in Downtown Kansas City.  Visit this link for a schedule of upcoming performances. All events and performances are free and open to the public.
