DTC Annual Luncheon Save the Date

DTC Annual Luncheon Keynote Speaker: City Planner and Author Jeff Speck

By Jared Campbell, Resident Engagement Project Manager at Downtown Council of Kansas City

An early Happy Valentine’s Day to all who love Downtown KC! As you celebrate the holiday this Wednesday, save a little room in your heart to show your love for downtown on Friday, April 12th when the Downtown Council hosts our annual luncheon.

This year, the keyword for our theme is “evolution”. Downtown Kansas City has seen an incredible transformation over the last twenty years from a mono-culture commercial hub to a vibrant mixed-used landscape where people live, work and play. At the annual luncheon, we will pause to reflect and celebrate this amazing change while also highlighting exciting projects happening now and discuss what the future could hold for our community.

Jeff Speck

The Downtown Council is pleased to announce city planner and best-selling author Jeff Speck will be the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Based on his experience in city planning, urban design, and the impact of walkability on downtowns, Jeff will share his knowledge about what makes downtowns unique and how cities can continue to make them vibrant and attractive destinations for all.

The evening before the luncheon, we will be showing love to the latest group of Urban Heroes. Since 2005, the Downtown Council has annually recognized individuals who represent a small business or organization who are passionate about making Downtown Kansas City a more vibrant place to live, work and play. The award winners will be recognized at a reception in the lobby of the Grand Ballroom from 5pm to 7pm.
