Events to explore the future of sports facilities & of Downtown

Two of the leading civic organizations in Kansas City – ULI Kansas City and the Downtown Council – will present public forums this month on two different, but related topics – sports and entertainment.

ULI-Kansas City – The Future of Sports Facilities

  • 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, KC Chamber Board Room at Union Station

ULI-Kansas City will partner with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce for a deep dive into the future of sports facilities!

A panel of experts will explore trends in design, financing strategies, ancillary development, and the benefits stadiums and sports venues have on the surrounding communities, including:

  • John Shreve, Senior Principal, Populous;
  • Irwin Raij, Partner, O’Melveny
  • Randy Bredar, Executive Vice President + Kansas City Office Director, JE Dunn Construction
  • Jay Cooper, General Manager, T-Mobile Center

The in-person program will unfold in the KC Chamber Board Room at Union Station, followed by a networking Happy Hour. The Board Room is located on the first floor of Union Station, adjacent to Pierpont’s restaurant.

Downtown Council Annual Luncheon – How Sports & Entertainment Activate Downtowns

The 2022 DTC Annual Luncheon will track progress since rolling out the Imagine Downtown KC 2030 Strategic Plan in January. The Imagine plan will serve as the primary vision-setting and policy blueprint for shaping a stronger, better, more resilient community with an unflinching commitment to creating an equitable, inclusive, and vibrant Downtown Kansas City.

A special highlight of the luncheon will be a star-studded panel discussion on how sports and entertainment activate Downtown KC, as well as downtowns across the country. Panelists will include:
