NAIA men get ready for their national tournament close-up
As college basketball’s oldest national tournament, the 83rd annual NAIA Division I Men’s National Championship will begin its six-day run at Municipal Arena on Thursday, March 18. The tournament marks its 75th return to Downtown KC, dating back to 1937-1943; 1945-1975; and 2002-present.
The NAIA is comprised of nearly 300 accredited small colleges and universities in North America. The NAIA is headquartered in Downtown KC, just a short walk to the tournament site.
Described by The New York Times as “basketball paradise,” the NAIA national competition will host 16 teams in a 15-game, single-elimination format with the Champion being crowned on Tuesday, March 23.
Single-game tickets start as low as $20 per person and all-tournament passes begin at $90. Purchase tickets via TicketMaster, the Municipal Auditorium box office or by calling 816-513-5074. Capacity will be limited to 20% due to COVID-19 restrictions. All ticket groups will be socially distanced.
Mark your calendar: Easter Egg-Venture is set for March 27
The outdoor, socially-distanced event will take place on the beautiful south-eastern lawn of the National WWI Museum and Memorial. Families will walk through an interactive path full of “egg-citing” things to see and do; go on an egg hunt; and gather special crafts, treats, and goodies along the way. You might even spy the Easter Bunny and some of his animal friends while there.
Save the date: 9-11 a.m. Saturday. March 27. Register here to let the Easter rabbit know you are coming.
