Black Restaurant Week begins Friday around KC

Kansas City area Black-owned restaurants will step into the dining scene spotlight for the next 10 days, thanks to the efforts of Black Restaurant Week.

The organization, which hosts multi-city culinary experiences, is hosting its first Midwest Black Restaurant Week, beginning Friday. Kansas City is one destination on the Midwest tour and, thus far, several area eateries have joined.

“Supporting the entire culinary industry, from farm to table, is necessary for providing more opportunities for the whole community to thrive,” Black Restaurant Week co-founder Warren Luckett said.

“From the increased exposure for Black-owned restaurants on our new national website to the professional business guidance gained from the educational events, Black Restaurant Week helps businesses expand its customer base and receive resources for ongoing success.”

The event begins today (Friday) and runs through Sunday, Aug. 2. Prix fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus start at $10 at participating businesses.
