Imagine Downtown KC – Community Engagement Underway

The Imagine Downtown KC 2030 Strategic Planning process kicked off its community engagement efforts with an online public workshop on Tuesday evening, July 14.

More than 100 participants shared their thoughts on the strengths and challenges of Downtown; near-term opportunities for Downtown’s recovery from the COVID -19 pandemic; and what excites them about the future of Downtown. This input will help us create a vision, value system and strategy for the new strategic plan.

If you missed the July 14th workshop, we invite you to watch a recording and answer the questions that were asked during the workshop by taking this brief survey. The survey is open until July 31.

Related Planning Effort: KC Spirit Playbook

While we are working on the Imagine Downtown KC planning process, the KCMO City Planning and Development Department is leading an update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The effort is entitled “KC Spirit Playbook“. This plan sets priorities and guides land development decisions to ensure Kansas City, Missouri is a thriving, people-centered community and a successful model for other American cities to follow for future generations. They are working to have the KC Spirit Playbook ready for adoption in 2022. The final recommendations 2030 Strategic Plan will be a resource for the KC Spirit Playbook.

The City has created an interactive webpage – complete with weekly polls and activities to gather input from the community.  Check it out at
