Art in the Loop is wasting no time making use of its Downtown canvas of creativity.
On the heels of its 2019 kickoff of its Make Believe summer schedule – a near five-month run of arts and art activities in and around Downtown – at 6:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Central Library, At in the Loop announces the start of a summer music series.
Art in the Loop in teaming up with the KC Streetcar to present eight live musical performances – beginning Thursday – on board the streetcars and at streetcar stops this summer. Music will range from folk, hip-hop, jazz, and soul to funk, country, indie, Latin, and classical with original music and covers of popular songs performed by local artists!
The Streetcar Summer Sounds will be presented on the Streetcar from 5-7 p.m. each Thursday from June 6 to Aug. 1. Specific Streetcar information will be announced on the KC Streetcar website and social media sites.
The summer schedule of performs begins this Thursday with Jazzy Jazz and continues for seven weeks, including:

July 18: Braulio Bosi
July 25: Kartez Marcel

“We are honored that the KC Streetcar is a ‘venue’ of choice for musicians. We are excited to once again be a conduit for local artists and musicians to share their talent with Kansas City,” said Donna Mandelbaum, communications director for the KC Streetcar Authority.
“Our partnership with the Art in the Loop Foundation has helped us enhance the streetcar ridership experience in ways we didn’t even imagine,” Mandelbaum said.
