Union Station‘s Open House Weekend – HISTORIC EXHIBIT DEBUT   Join us in reliving 100 years of fascinating UnionStation history presented in rich and interactive formats. Our new 5,000-square-foot permanent exhibition, Union Station Stories, captures the rich and diverse cultural history of the Stationthrough significant stories and beautiful artifacts.

The future meets the past, in a cutting-edge virtual history tour created by VML. Living History shares some of the most memorable stories of how UnionStation was built and the people who have passed through its halls during the past 100 years—all told using an augmented reality app.

Xtreme BUGS! is Buzzing!Xtreme BUGS! are getting rave reviews from kids and adults alike. These larger-than-life bugs are more than just cool objects to look at – everyone that walks through the doors, young or old, learns something new!

The exhibit features nearly 100 giant bugs set in their natural environment, including giant bugs brought to life with animatronics!

Experience the wonder yourself! And get up close to these massive, moving and buzzing insect and arthropod animatronic models. You can learn all about the fascinating science behind insect appearance, behavior and survival. Hands-on, digital discovery activities enhance the experience and encourage further exploration.

Science Pioneers: Meet the STEM Mentor

Science Pioneers is hosting an opportunity to meet area scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians to learn about the connection between STEM subjects and every day life.On Saturday, November 8th from 8:00am to 12:00pm at the UMKC Student Union, meet STEM mentors to get a head start on a Science & Engineering Fair project; view award winning student displays and visit with STEM mentors one-on-one.

There will also be workshops catered to the “how-to’s” of projects.

Do the Centennial Swing Dance!In honor of 100 years, Union Station is throwing it back to the ‘Golden Age.’ Come celebrate theCentennial SWING DANCE with a live performance by the famed Dave Stephens Band and Lonnie McFadden on November 1 starting at 6:00 p.m. The FREE event will be held in UnionStation‘s Sprint Festival Plaza.

Schedule of activities include:
6:00pm: Swing Dance Lessons by Amy Catro, owner, Overland Park Ballroom & Social Club
6:30pm: Victor & Penny – Opening Act
7:00 pm: Dave Stephens and Lonnie McFadden take the stage
7:15 pm: Short dance performance by The Swingsters of Allegro Ballroom
