Special Projects and Initiatives
Current special projects and initiatives include:
| Downtown Development Group
Since 2003, over $5.5 billion has been reinvested in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Much of this reinvestment framework was defined in the Downtown Corridor Development Strategy (Sasaki Plan) commissioned by the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City. One of the action steps called for in the plan was the creation of a Downtown Development Group to lead the redevelopment strategy. The Downtown Council of Kansas City was identified as the organization to manage the entity. The mission of the Downtown Development Group (DDG) is to be a “developer in the public interest” and solidify Downtown Kansas City as the preeminent real estate market for office, retail, housing, mixed-use and entertainment. |

There are many initiatives that can move forward without significant new financial investments and many others that will result in economic benefits over time.
