Downtown Council 2010 Annual Report

Forbes’ recent recognition of Downtown Kansas City as one of the top 10 downtowns in America is one of a series of national and international accolades that Downtown  and Kansas City has received in recent weeks.

Frommers has named Kansas City a Top 10 Travel Destination for 2012 — the only American city on the list. Travel + Leisure recently stamped Kansas City as the most Affordable Getaway in the U.S. And, Under30CEO.com has named Kansas City the #2 city in America for Young Entrepreneurs.

In the last 10 years, more than $6 billion has been invested in Downtown Kansas City. No city in America has done so much in such a short time to revitalize its Downtown, and the world has begun to take notice.

The Downtown Council of Kansas City is the leading advocate and champion for Downtown Kansas City. The DTC is a nonprofit, member-based organization that is devoted to the belief that a healthy, vibrant and economically vital Downtown is central to the success of the entire region. In short, the Downtown Council and its stakeholders focus their efforts on making certain that Downtown works.

A healthy Downtown transforms and lifts the region. A safe and clean Downtown is integral to the economic vitality of our community.

A vibrant Downtown is cause for celebration. It epitomizes rebirth, revitalization and teamwork. It is the catalyst for attracting investment and economic activity.

An economically sustainable Downtown is the end goal. In order for Downtown to work at its best, the DTC focuses its efforts on building the numbers of people who live, work and play in the neighborhoods that make up our greater Downtown. Population and employee density are the keys to making Downtown work at its most efficient.
