I-35 bridge, ramp repairs around Downtown begin today

Construction begins today on bridges and ramps around Downtown and, according to The Kansas City Star“…it’s not going to be pretty.”

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says nearly $30 million in bridge and ramp improvements for Interstate 35 southwest of downtown begins today and will continue through December. The  first closures will impact motorists who access I-35 from Downtown.

The ramp from Broadway near Penn Valley Park to northbound I-35 will close tonight. The ramp from Broadway just west of Bartle Hall to southbound I-35 will close Wednesday night.

Both northbound and southbound I-35, from about Cambridge Circle to north of West Pennway, will be reduced to two narrowed lanes beginning next week and through December.

MoDOT has just announced that the timeline for the 12th Street bridge and ramp closures has been pushed back to start in July.
